Drawing Flies
Sitting here like uninvited company Wallowing in my own obscenities I share a cigarette with negativity Sitting here like wet ashes with X's in my eyes And drawing flies... ----Soundgarden, Drawing Flies
Drawing Flies (Arcane)
Level 1
Range: 10′ per level of magic-user
Duration: Three rounds per level of wizard.
This spell summons a swarm of pesky flies (which never seem too far away) to annoy and pester a target of the caster’s choice. There is no saving throw to avoid these flying pests, which cause the victim to have a -1 modifier on all combat rolls and a -2 on all social/interaction rolls for the duration of the spell. While swatting at the flies will not make them go away a concentrated effort to kill them (or well placed spell) will certainly make these creatures leave the victim alone, four points of damage will discourage the swarm.
Option: When cast the magic-user rolls a d6, on a result of “1” which will summon giant horseflies rather than the average housefly. These horrible creatures are minions of the Fly God and cause the victim to have a -2 modifier on all combat rolls and a -4 on all social rolls. These larger flies require eight hit points of damage to drive off. This attracts the attention of the Fly God, Altu-Vhlu.

Nice one. This would make a good on-use effect for a cursed item.
Thank you for the comment, Kristian! It could easily become a nasty curse as well. Just had the Soundgarden song running through my mind and ran with it.
