Death Angel
Stork felt the sensation of being watched. Slowly the wizard turned and saw a gaunt figure with black feathery wings regarding him from a nearby rooftop. Then everything went black. The sorcerer hissed and felt around in the magical darkness, mumbling a counter-spell. The dark subsided a bit, and Stork strained to see as if in late twilight. The thing was right behind him. Stork spun on his heels to face the creature. He suddenly felt a sickening fear, the kind that makes one’s stomach feel cold.
The dark figure pointed at the wizard.
“You will cease your malignant ways and return to Nalaj, where you are wanted,” whispered something behind Stork. Slowly the sorcerer looked over his shoulder to see a fanged mouth grimacing at him, a mouth seemingly set into the brick wall. Stork lowered his head, the fear gripping him tighter. He nodded slowly. Suddenly the dark figure and the mouth in the wall were gone. Stork looked around to see if there were any witnesses as the fear slowly ebbed.
Some time later Stork burst into the dingy room of the inn.
“We’re leaving for Nalaj! Pack your things,” he said to Vistis the Blue Mage.
“They will kill us! They already tried before! We cannot go back there, why do you even suggest sucha thing?” the illusionist retorted.
“I encountered something in an alley while hunting for clues as to Chalk’s whereabouts. Something I do not ever want to see again!” replied the wizard. “And it had a message to return to Nalaj.”
“A message for you, maybe,” Vistis replied from beneath his heavily lacquered mask. “I don’t believe I was mentioned in this, was I?”
“I might need some back up,” Stork said.
“Let’s get packing,” Vistis grumbled.

Death angels are strange beings from the outer planes sometimes sent to deliver a haunting message and sometimes sent as harbingers of doom. The subject with these creatures is always death and many flee from these things on sight. Death angels appear as tall (6′ 6”), gaunt humans wrapped mummy-like in dark gauze that obscures their features and long black feathery wings. At will these creatures can use the following as spell-like abilities: Darkness (for up to six turns), Knock, Manipulate Fire and Magic Mouth. Three times per day a death angel may use the following as spell-like abilities: Blink, Fear and Polymorph Self. All spells are cast as if by a 6th level magic-user. These beings are very cryptic and not very social at all, usually just staying on the Material Plane long enough to get their message across. Any encounters with a death angel after the first one causes anyone to be -1 on all rolls while within sight of the thing.
While normally six is the maximum number of these creatures encountered there are rumors that at one time a wizard summoned nearly one hundred of these eerie things to frighten an entire populace, but this may just be rumor.

Cool. I wonder why it took so long for somebody to get around to doing this? It seems so obvious–well, after you did it.
Thank you, Trey! After a Seemingly Endless Time it came to me. Actually, it was from a dream, in which I was the death angel. :0
I can see a lot of uses for this, many of them none too good for the PC’s…
YES! Just the way things should be.:)
