Uzon
“First centipedes and now silver beetles!” lamented Valance.
Nudge the gnome thief held the large and weird beetle tightly to his chest and scowled at the priest of the Spider God.
“It is by this silver beetle that we escaped the Tower of the Forgotten King and made it back to Cobble!” Nudge insisted. “Nobody knew that those locks would magically lock themselves twice!”
Valance threw his hands up in the air.
“Fine!”

Uzon are strange, silvery beetles about the size of a man’s fist. Semi-intelligent and rare, these creatures are coveted by adventurers and thieves for their ability to Lock or Unlock a door once per day (this effect is similar to the magic-user spell Knock, except that it only locks or unlocks a door, it does not “un-stick” or counter Hold Portal, although it will unlatch or unbar a door). Each day an uzon in captivity must be fed a silver piece (or its equivalent) to keep it alive and loyal to its owner. An uzon will die after three days without being fed if it confined and cannot escape to forage and it will require one silver piece for each day missed, or one gold piece, which will ‘catch it up’ and keep the creature fed for an additional 1d3 days. Unable to communicate, these strange insects can obey simple commands.

“Excellent…..”
Thank you very much, Boric!
Monster as tool. Good stuff!
Thank you! I like trying to cross ideas and make one thing into another when I can.
