[Swords & Wizardry] New Monster: The Gwylion

The Gwylion

The wizard Sceptilwor and his entourage descended into the quiet vale, looking for a peaceful respite after battling the trio of ogres at the Bridge of Despair and this lush green woodland glen appeared to be an ideal resting place. A small lodge sat next to a clear running stream with a few goats lazily grazing nearby. As the party drew nearer Sceptilwor called out to any inhabitants of the stout oak lodge. The curtains parted for a moment and closed. The door creaked open and a beautiful young woman stood in the doorway.

Hopdim the halfling adventurer tugged at Sceptilwor’s dusty robes.

This can’t be good,” the short explorer whispered,”we had better leave while we still have our heads.”

Nonsense!,”snorted the wizard, smiling at the pretty young maiden, “this looks like a perfect place for a little relaxation.”

Moments later another gorgeous woman peeked out the door, then yet another. Trijlon the fighter’s jaw dropped open. Cresslir the elf looked over at Hopdim, a hint of despair on his face. The wizard appeared transfixed and smiled like a fool, Trijlon soon did the same. Suddenly the wizard groaned in pain and sank to the ground, an arrow in his chest, Trijlon suffered the same fate. The elf and halfling beat a hasty retreat, having luckily avoided being charmed.

That was easy,”one of the women exclaimed,”should we go after the others?”

No,” replied another, “I have never liked the taste of elf and halfling has too much fat to be worth eating.”

Enough talked,” proclaimed the third, “let’s get a stew cooking on the fire.”

We were on the same wavelength.
I wrote, today, about house-fae who ‘protect’ the place from tunnelling Humanoids.

I was even thinking of going over the Russian home and hearth spirits, but I might save them for another time and see what you come up with.
