Serpents of Saram-Laq
“Lost your way, little priest?” the serpent hissed at Valance.
The cleric of the Spider God froze in place. He didn’t see the speaker, but something in the voice caused a shiver to shake him to the bone.
“W-w-who is it?” the shaky priest asked.
“I am the one who has followed you from the deep jungles. I have followed you through the deserts and the forests. You and your spider-loving priest-brothers slew a nest of my people in Kharta-Ghar. And now, you, the last priest from that atrocity will die. I mislead the others to…” the hideous voice was cut short by the clang of steel on stone. A large stone fell right behind Valance, causing him to jump.
“We found our way back,” Koram said, kicking the head of a strange large snake into the light and wiping the gore from his Crystal Sword.
“What was that little speech all about? It was very intriguing,” Chalk asked, amused by the nervous look on Valance’s face.
“Oh, it was nothing,” the priest said, trying to compose himself. “A case of mistaken identity.”
“Indeed,” Chalk commented.

Some of the most insidious surprises are the ones that one would never expect. The Serpents of Saram-Laq are just one example. Looking like normal pythons, the Serpents of Saram-Laq are actually quite intelligent and able to move items via the ability of telekinesis, which these strange serpents are quite adept at.
The Serpents of Saram-Laq never give themselves away, preferring to blend in with their surroundings and never give their true nature away, appearing to be regular snakes. However, these creatures plot the most horrific and vile schemes against the more civilized peoples of the world, often working with creatures like lizardfolk of the serpent people.
The Serpents of Saram-Laq may mentally control up to 40 lbs of weight through telekinesis, which is an inborn ability for these evil snakes. These monsters may use this power to bear a weapon, levitate a rock or otherwise control items around them. However, to maintain this ability the Serpents of Saram-Laq must not be distracted and must be able to focus on their telekinesis ability. While these creatures look like pythons, they consider the ability to constrict their prey to be beneath them.
It is also not unknown for Serpents of Saram-Laq to be able to Charm Person three times per day, which these vile creatures use to make their lives easier, or to set up little empires. I give them a 30% chance to have this ability.
