[New Monster] Crocodile Hounds of Nefthis-Yd

Crocodile Hounds of Nefthis-Yd

Coins changed hands as Stork came to an agreement with the shadowy necromancer.

“You will find a trio of them in the stables near the south end of town. When you are done with them, just unclasp their collars and they will come home to me,” the necromancer said in a low voice.

Stork nodded and patted the vile wizard on the shoulder. Then the sorcerer reached into a pouch that hung at his side, nodded a farewell to the necromancer and took off in the general direction of the southern stables.

As Stork approached he noticed that the villagers and their animals were all uneasy.

“Get those things out of here at once!” demanded a fed-up stablemaster.

Stork grinned his shark-toothed smile and slipped into the shadows of the inside of the stables. Even he was taken aback at the sight of the vicious monsters. Long-legged crocodile headed reptiles, the size of a lion or dire wolf greeted him with hungry eyes.

In one hand Stork held a metal ring that showed the beasts he controlled their freedom, that he could unlock their collars, in the other he held a bit of cloth.

“Careless Gnybaro! Tearing his sleeve like that,” grinned Stork as he waved the pit of the thief’s sleeve under the noses of the fearsome beasts.

At once the crocodile-headed monsters burst from the stables, running westward.

Fast moving, scaly monsters, the Crocodile Hounds of Nefthis-Yd are guardians of the tombs and crypts of certain powerful necromancers as well as excellent trackers that hound the heels of those who betray the Necromancers of Afthar-Orhi, a strange city of the dead in the wastelands of Gnar. These same necromancers will loan out the services of their loyal creatures if the price is right.

While formidable in combat, also impressive is the ability that these monsters have to root out the invisible (See Invisible 100′ radius), understand any language, see in the dark (Infravision, 100′ radius) and these creatures are also almost tireless, only requiring three or fours hours of rest as long as they are well fed.

In appearance the Crocodile Hounds have the head of a large crocodile on the body of what appears to be a reptilian big cat, such as a lion. These long legs give the Crocodile Hounds the ability to run swiftly.

I bet the boots made out of their hide would be pretty pricey. 😉

Thank you, Trey! I just wake up and see where the guys are leading me each day. These rascals usually have some caper up their sleeves.
