The orcs listened to Stork for a few moments, considering his offer. The wizard had been hard pressed to escape those he often pursued that were now on his heels.
“Five thousand gold pieces to attack those following you?” the burly orc chieftain asked.
“Yes,” Stork answered, nervously looking over his shoulder.
“Must talk to boss first,” the orc grunted.
“Fine, fine,” the wizard said impatiently.
The orc shuffled away to return a moments later, with a monstrosity. Sixteen feet tall, a slavering mouth, dozens of glaring eyes atop its head, flexing talons.
“Yesssssss?” the creature hissed.
Stork smiled just before he fainted from the sight of the creature.

The strange monstrosities are thought to have come from a falling star long ago. Tall and lanky, these creatures are truly horrifying to behold; sixteen feet tall with long grasping talons and claws, a wicked, barbed tail that lashes about furiously, a head nearly fused with the torso, a mountain of eyes atop the beast that look all around (never surprised) and a grisly gaping maw that can swallow creatures of size small or smaller whole. A dark, thick, armored hide covers the alien looking creature, that is itself both surprisingly intelligent and wicked. It is not uncommon for these beasts to lead hordes of orcs, ogres, hobgoblins or plane-bound infernals against the forces of Law and order.
Nightmare Giants are devastating in combat. Anyone encountering one for the first time must make a Save versus Petrify and Paralyze at -1 or be frightened and unable to attack for 1d4 rounds due to extreme fear of the horrifying beast. These creatures can leap up to forty feet from a standing position, rend and tear with their wicked talons or strike with their lashing tail, and bite with devastating effect. In addition they can see perfectly in the dark and most can cast spells (each knows 1d6 spells of levels 1-4, often spells that manipulate or control the dead or are otherwise necromantic in nature). Unlike most giants, Nightmare Giants do not wear armor, carry weapons or throw boulders, preferring to use their natural abilities to best effect.
