Reclaiming the Dead
As night fell wicked creatures crawled forth from their lairs to roam the land around the Drear Forest. It was no place for a band of adventurers.
“Shall we make camp here?” suggested the elven magic-user, Sovir.
“Looks good to me,” replied the dwarf fighter, Ironkeg.
“It is very near the woods, which look quite dark and dangerous,” Firemead the halfling said shakily.
“Bah, little one! You worry too much,” snorted the human cleric, Vindri.
A couple of hours later, as the foul undead were creeping in, Firemead glanced over at the cleric.
“You have already repelled those returned from the grave at Dilba Crossing, what are you going to do now?” the halfling asked.
Sovir threw a ball of light amongst the creeping dead, revealing them to be a band of hungry ghouls.
Vindri looked at the halfling and winked. Then he shouted to his gods. A strange quiet fell,, broken by the hissing of one of the ghouls that turned into a cry of terror.
Questing and probing hands, made of earth and rock were grabbing and clutching the wicked ghouls, pulling them underground.
“Sometimes, just sometimes, you humans aren’t so bad,” Firemead said, nodding in respect at the priest’s magic.
Vindri laughed and patted the halfing on the head.
“Yes, little thief, and I am sure we will find a use for you one day too,” the cleric replied, laughing.
