[New Spell] Reversion of Athamos

Reversion of Athamos

Koram turned the corner of the stone block building and felt a gently tap on the shoulder as an arm momentarily protruded out of a window then quickly retracted. The fighter dropped his blade and suddenly began to look shaggy and disheveled. A beetling brow interrupted his profile and a wild look shone in his eyes.

Are you ok?” Chalk asked as he slowed down to a halt.

Koram roared in fury and despair, not understanding his surroundings. With lightning speed he leaped at the wizard before the latter could react with a spell. Chalk chortled for help.

Thinking quickly, the priest of the Spider God began pulling spiders out of his sleeves. Choosing a light purple specimen, the cleric whispered something at the arachnid and threw it at the raging fighter. Deftly the strange spider caught onto the back of Koram’s jerkin and scuttled up to the collar. The small spider reared back and then lurched forward, sinking its fangs into the back of Koram’s neck. The primitive brute that was Koram staggered a few steps after releasing Chalk then the fighter’s eyes rolled up in his head and he dropped like a sack of potatoes with a stupid grin on his face.

Reversion of Athamos (Arcane)

Level 3

Range: Touch

Duration: 1d6 turns +1 turn per level of the spellcaster

The Reversion of Athamos spell causes the victim who fails a save versus magic at -2 to go through a horrific transformation that causes the person to fall back down the evolutionary ladder by several rungs. The basic Int of the character only drops by 1d4 +1(5 min), but the Str increases by 1d3+1 (18 max). Language, most social interaction and utilizing technology beyond Stone Age level go out the window. The victim of the spell becomes feral and attacks all around, not understanding who is friend and who is foe.

  1. Riker, no!

Sorry, letting my Star Trek nerd out a bit there.

Great spell, chief. It makes for a nice way to pit the party against each other for a bit without having to resort to Charm Person one more time. Me likee!

  2. bat says:

Thank you very much, O Venomous One! This to me is sort of the deprivation tank from Altered States in a spell.

It’s so easy even Koram under Reversion of Athamos can do it!

  3. “Chalk chortled for help.”

    Isn’t a chortle a type of laugh?
