[New Monster] Grazovi (reptilian brutes)

Grazovi (reptilian brute)

A great hulking figure block the alleyway, bat-like wings outstretched. In silhouette it looked like a demon of some importance and ability. The shadowy creature brandished a great hammer, then halted for a moment and cocked its head to one side.

“Chalk? Is that you?” the creature asked in a deep, low voice.

The wizard’s mind raced, then he smiled and snapped his fingers.

“Deeproot?” the wizard asked in reply.

The bulky creature stepped from the concealing shadows, revealing an ogre sized winged reptilian creature. A toothy smile shown on the giant’s face. The wizard and the giant lizardman shook hands vigorously.

“What brings you here, to this ramshackle town?” Chalk asked his old friend.

“Mercenary work for a wizard named Stork. I am on the lookout for….” an awkward look crossed over Deeproot’s face.

“Surely we can double whatever that rascal is paying you to join us for a while out in the wild lands?” Chalk inquired.

A big smile crossed over the reptilian’s face.

“Yes, that would work nicely!” Deeproot answered.

The rest of the party sighed in relief.

Many speculate about the origin of the Grazovi, but the most common theory, even held by these creatures, is that in ages long ago the dragon kings created these great reptilian brutes from common lizardfolk as a reward for loyalty and bravery beyond what their dragon masters expected. Others believe that these creatures are remnants of an ancient race and that the more common lizardfolk have devolved from the Grazovi. Either way, these are not the sort of creatures to have mad at you.

Grazovi stand around eight feet tall, and look like muscular, feral lizardmen with long bat-like wings growing from their shoulders. The reptilian brutes wear bronze armor and usually carry vicious carved stone clubs (1d10+2 damage) or weapons scrounged from battle, favoring axes and hammers of dwarven make.

While strong fliers the Grazovi are not the swiftest of swimmers, but they can hold their breath underwater for up to an hour.

The Grazovi are not stupid creatures and sometimes, under the right conditions, will even accompany an adventuring party out of curiosity.
