Koram sunk his Crystal Sword deep into the monster’s shoulder. The creature wailed and howled and finally collapsed. The fighter looked over at the others; Chalk was throwing spells at a pair of these eerie beasts as they mindlessly attacked while Knat and the Scholar of Wexos were already in handy to hand combat with the creatures. Valance was chanting a prayer to the Spider God. Koram shivered, wondering what the priest’s words to his alien god might be. Spiders invaded the cavern and attacked the earthbound daemons viciously.
Within minutes the strange green monsters were defeated, but the group of adventurers were a little worse for wear themselves. Looking around the party found a small hoard of coins and minor magical items.
“What were those things?” Koram asked.
“Terribly annoying,” Chalked answered.
An ear-piercing screech resounded off of the cavern walls. Everyone whipped around.
From a hidden opening stood another of the monsters, this one was reddish in color and bigger. Everyone in the group of adventurers sighed.
“I wonder what it is protecting?” Valance said while herding spiders in the creature’s direction.
“I wonder if there are any even bigger to encounter down the line?” the Scholar of Wexos lamented.

Thought to be a form of earthbound daemon, Subterrestrial Prowlers are strange, hunched creatures with a thick rubbery mottled green hide. These monsters gibber mindlessly in caves and dungeons, sometimes protecting some stolen treasure or another. Long, ape-like arms allow the Subterrestrial Prowler to move quickly as they use their knuckles and bandy legs to propel them against enemies. Sometimes the only warning one has is their eerie gleam of their eyes, the only warning before these creatures descend upon their victims.
In some instances, witnesses have spotted a bigger variety of Subterrestrial Prowler, that seems to act as a leader, although many sages wonder how these creatures communicate as their language seems to be nothing more than shrieks and wailing. These bigger ‘Prowlers have a reddish hide (treat as 5HD monsters, save as a F5, and 550 X.P.)
