Koram stared again at the strangely hooded and cloaked figures that were crouching over what appeared to be an unconscious female. The beings were speaking in an odd language full of grunts and hoots. The fighter motioned to the others, pointing at the scene as it unfolded in the alley. Knat raised her staff before anyone else could act and tapped the ground. Vegetation began creeping up through the cracks in the cobblestones, grasping at the cloaked figures. The creatures suddenly left the woman and loped off, a couple of them striking at the vegetation with curved swords while another pointed at the adventurers. Whirling lights appeared, obscuring the creatures while they escaped.
“We need to get her some help!” Chalk urged the others as he raced to the woman’s aid.
Mumbling and trembling the victim of the odd creatures finally regained her wits. She told a horrifying tale of being followed through the twisting alleyways and over the rooftops by the things who seemed to be driven to abduct her for some reason.

Servants of the Mocking Gods, the tokli are average sized humanoids that always wear hoods and robes and have any exposed extremities wrapped in strange cloth. Another common characteristic of the tokli are the two curved swords always worn by these creatures. When the Mocking Gods could not find worship among any of the established peoples of the world they found the tokli and elevated their stature and intelligence to be like that of Men, Elves and the other races, but these strange deities were not as adept at this as other gods and their servants. One renowned knight claimed he saw a tokli unmasked once and it looked like a humanoid baboon, which suggests that Nazla-Kha (q.v.) had a paw in helping the Mocking Gods in their desperation to have worshipers.
In combat the tokli use their two swords expertly in combat and all tokli have the “Gift of the Tokli”: the ability to cast two 1st level and one 2nd level illusionist spell, each once per day.
