Masks of the Soul
The raven masked figure spread out her arms, mock-flapping her feathery cloak as the man in the costume of the fox watched. A person in a turtle costume loped by as a man in a lion costume drank from the cup filled with hard cider and laughed uproariously.
“Okay, I am starting to get confused now,” the fox masked man said aloud. “Is there anyone in the crowd who came with the wizard Chalk?”
The room suddenly became silent as they all looked around and then at the wizard.
“Drat! They must have already left without me!” Chalk snarled as he headed for the door.
Masks of the Soul (Arcane)
Range: 10′ + 5′ per level of wizard
Duration: One day + 2 hours per level of wizard.
Traditionally cast by magic-users at the end of one season and the beginning of another (when the veils between the worlds are the thinnest), Masks of the Soul creates a mask and appropriate clothing to conceal the identities of select targets within the radius of the spell. Those so masked are nearly impossible to detect for who they really are (-2 on ll scrying/divination magic) unless they choose to reveal themselves. Elaborate celebrations are sometimes concocted around the casting of this spell with a big reveal (dispelling of the enchantment) at the culmination of the event. It is said that this spell was made to counter the depredations of vengeful spirits at certain times of the year.
