Banner of the Spider God
The hideous knight, in his black chitinous armor, motioned for one of his retainers to bring something to him. Valance recognized the thing with an admiring nod. Snarling something incomprehensible the dread knight struck the ground with standard that was covered in stylized spiders. A disturbing huge ghostly spider appeared.
“Oh, don’t worry about that,” Valance said.
His companions ran as fast as the could.
“Oh yeah, that just doesn’t work on me,” the priest of the Spider God said.
This dreadful standard is covered in stylized images of spiders. Ages old yet still retaining its potent magic, this is one of the few arcane items from long ago that is as powerful and vibrant as when it was created.
Benefit: When the Banner of the Spider God his tapped against the ground and facing a foe a titanic ghostly red spider appears, causing all enemies of the bearer of the standard to make a save versus spell-like devices at -2 or flee in terror (must leave the immediate area for 1d4 turns). Any who remain are attacked by this ethereal incarnation of the Spider God for 2d6 points of damage for one round and the spidery thing then dissipates. Clerics, champions and other devout of the Spider God are immune to this effect.
