[New Spell] Secrets of the Earth

Secrets of the Earth

Which path will get us to the Cave of Kossle?” Chalk wondered aloud.

Knat made an odd face and tapped her staff on the ground. With a fidget the druidess pointed towards the east.

Is it safe?” Koram asked as he grabbed for a short sword at his waist.

Knat shrugged.

How should I know? You just asked for the way in,” she replied with a wry smile.

Secrets of the Earth (Druid)

Level 1

Range: 40 feet per level of druid.

Duration: Instantaneous.

When cast, Secrets of the Earth will reveal caves, fissures and other portals and gates that lead underground or into the side of a mountain, etc. This spell ignores doors and seeks pathways, therefore a druid and/or his or her party will still need to find a way passed the door. While great for finding shelter in a caves from a storm or another way into a deep dungeon, the spell does not reveal if these ways underground or into mountains and hills are inhabited or not, nor will the spell reveal any traps or weaknesses of the way in.

It’s a about time the druid was able to claim some mastery of natural subterranean environments, as well. Well done!

I like this spell, powerful but leaves out a fair bit of information that can really get PC’s into trouble later on if they’re not paying attention.

Yes, I like magic to be a little mysterious and not always straight forward.
