[New Spell] One Step Beyond

One Step Beyond

What spells do you know, besides the spider….” Koram began.

Fast as lightning Valance pointed at the fighter and made a clawed fist.

Koram’s eyes opened wide as he clutched at his heart and dropped to his knees, falling to the ground with a surprised look on his face. The others stood up in dismay.

A glowing portal appeared and beyond a bright realm full of impossibly tall towers and deep green forests. Then the vision faded and the priest of the Spider God helped Koram up.

I know that one, the one that lets you know where you will go after this life,” replied Valance with a sickly grin.

Koram dusted himself off and kept quiet the rest of the day.

One Step Beyond (Cleric)

Level 3

Range: 10′ per level of cleric.

Duration: Instantaneous.

Priests and clerics use this spell to determine the final destination of a person’s spirit after death. This may be used as a cautionary tale, to turn someone from their ways or to prove that a person truly is aligned with Law or Chaos (or Good or Evil). The casting cleric need only indicate a person within range of the spell and that person will feel a sudden chill, as if an icy hand clutches their heart. Then the affected person drops to the ground as if dead, moments later a portal is revealed and beyond that the realm of the afterlife that the person is destined for. As the vision slowly fades there are a few moments for the person to recover and get back on their feet. The cleric, the target of the spell and any within viewing distance can see what has transpired. There is no saving throw and the undead and extra-planar creatures (obviously) are not affected by this spell.
