[New Spell] Want of Secret Things

Want of Secret Things

Nudge the gnome thief scurried through the strange town and caught up with the wizard Chalk.

This is an odd town indeed!” quipped the gnome.

How so?”

While I was peeking into the Golden Gryphon tavern I saw all of the drunk people suddenly turn a dark blue and the bar maid looked stunned and laughed, as if she was accidentally responsible.”

Was anyone else there?”

An oddly dressed man in magenta robes.”

Let’s go and have a look,” muttered Chalk.

Want of Secret Things (Arcane)

Level 5

Range: 10′ per level of wizard.

Duration: Until wish is spoken.

A spell both powerful and dangerous, Want of Secret Things is cast upon a person without their knowledge and they cannot be told about this spell, or the magic will dissipate and render the spell useless. Once cast the target of the spell will go on about their lives until they vocalize a desire, be it for love, money, revenge or a well cooked meal. The danger comes if the wizard casts this spell upon an enemy that would wish them harm or something catastrophic to happen in their area so magic-users are usually pretty careful about who they cast this spell upon. Some wizards believe that some instant changes that occur for no reason are the result of this spell. Note that while one cannot tell the target of the spell about the spell it is possible to encourage a certain course of action, with a 15% chance (subtracting any Charisma bonus modifiers) that the subject will realize what has happened and ruin the spell. Basically this spell works as a Limited Wish with the limitation that the target cannot be told about the spell or it will be rendered useless.

Bat, did you leave part of the spell out? I can’t tell what it does… 🙂

Sorry good sir! I was a little vague so I added the last line: ” Basically this spell works as a Limited Wish with the limitation that the target cannot be told about the spell or it will be rendered useless.” I hope that clears it up.
