Valance shifted his shoulders a bit, as if he were uncomfortable, then cried out in pain.
‘My robes are burning! As if a hundred vipers bit me at once!’ he exclaimed, suddenly clawing his back.
Chalk quickly ran into another room and returned moments later with a handful of towels.
‘Change into these,’ urged the wizard.
Without hesitation Valance changed from his robes to the towels, wrapping himself up tightly. The pain subsided and he inspected his clothing, there was no damage and there were no vipers.
‘What is this?’ asked the priest of the Spider God.
‘Just trying out a new spell, it works magnificently,’ Chalk replied cheerfully.
‘I’ll conjure a special spider for you for that torment,’ threatened Valance.
