[New Monster] The Luckless Ones

The Luckless Ones

The elf was getting weaker and weaker as he and the others traveled from one town to the next.

As the small group prepared for the final leg of their journey one of the men came up to the elf and patted his shoulder.

‘Feeling better today?’ the fighter asked.

The elf almost dropped to one knee as he felt himself physically getting weaker.

‘No, not really,’ replied the elf, suddenly growing suspicious.

Before anyone else caught up to him the elf disappeared in the undergrowth and listened intently.

‘Where did that elf go?’ asked one of the adventurers.

‘I don’t know, but I need a boost of energy,’ said another.

‘Do you think he knows?’ asked yet another.

The elf ran as quietly and quickly as he could.

Those who are at death’s edge from a curse are sometimes given a second chance, which in itself is still a curse. The Luckless Ones appear as normal humans or demi-humans although they tend to appear meek and shy around others. These poor wretches have a Constitution that may go no higher than 9, yet every day is reduced by one point. To regenerate this they must touch another human or demi-human, if the victim fails a Save vs. Poison or Death he or she will lose one point of Constitution temporarily (this attribute will replenish at the rate of one point every two days). The Luckless Ones tend to operate only in small groups and move often to avoid being eradicated.
