Ork Helmet: Spellbreaker
Fellhorn was just about to chide the gnome illusionist for another prank gone awry when the orcs attacked. A great bull orc charged the druid roaring and slavering.
The gnome and elf each began to fight in hand to hand combat as the great orc slammed his helmeted skull into the druid’s forehead.
Fellhorn reeled as everything went quiet. The druid blinked and realized that one of his spells had slipped away from his mind. Without thinking he slashed at the orc with a scimitar.
‘Run, gnome, his helmet takes spells,’ yelled Fellhorn.
The orc turned to regard the small demi-human with a snarl.
The small illusionist glared at the druid.
Said to have been created by an evil archmage to give an orc hero an edge in combat as a reward for service it is also rumored to have been the great magic-user’s demise as he was the victim of his own magic item during a coup.
Benefit: Besides conferring a +1 to AC of the wearer, in combat the wearer of the magical helmet may choose to head butt an enemy as an attack, this deals 1d4+2 points of damage and, if the target is a spellcaster he or she will lose one spell randomly for that day. Subsequent head butts will have remove another spell each time.
Option: This magic item goes for the highest level offensive spell that can be cast that day to give the wearer an edge.
Usable by: Anyone that can wear a big, bulking helmet.
Perfectly awesome- this will be an unexpected one….
Thank you very much! I thought it would be a nasty little surprise to keep spellcasters on their toes. 🙂
