Horns of the Liar curse
Valance returned to the lair of the adventurers, tipping his head sideways to get inside through the door. The priest of the Spider God bore a huge and elaborate set of antlers on his head, much like a deer’s.
‘Gambling at the Temple of Light again?’ Chalk asked.
‘I tell you, those boys don’t understand the point of bluffing at cards,’ the priest of the Spider God said as he sat down heavily in a chair at the dining table. ‘And on top of that, my neck hurts.’
‘Not surprising with all of those antlers,’ quipped Navnen.
Valance smirked at his misfortune.
Horns of the Liar (Cleric)
Duration: One day per level of caster.
Trying to “keep ’em honest”, this spell causes anyone under its power to grow horns for every lie told, roughly 6” per lie. These horns grow the more lies are told, some growing points like a deer’s antlers, others like a goat or ram. At the end of the spell the horns drop off harmlessly and may be used in spell components, being very valuable. Any attempt to “saw off” or otherswise physically remove the liar’s horns causes 1d6 points of damage to the cursed person, and the horns grow back instantly anyway. The only real benefit to the one cursed by this spell is gaining an additional gore attack for 1d4 points of damage, depending on how much of a liar he or she is.
