[New Magic Item] Swarm Ring

Vermin Ring

Vistis the Blue Mage let out a scream as dozens of mice and rats attacked him suddenly.

Stork spun around on his heels and even the sinister wizard was taken aback by the horror before him.

‘Do something!’ Vistis screamed from behind his lacquered mask.

Stork threw a couple of spells at the illusionist, neither of which seemed to help the situation.

‘You idiot, these things are biting me!’ the illusionist growled.

Stork shrugged and threw a bolt of lightning at Vistis. For a brief moment dozens of vermin could be seen in silhouette before dropping lifeless to the ground. Vistis too, collapsed.

‘Thank you, I think,’ whimpered Vistis.

Stork nodded and glared around for the source of the attack. He thought for a second he saw a gnome or halfling in the nearby shrubbery…..

A sinister magic item used by questionable or desperate persons usually, this magic item is great for distracting and slowing a foe. Beware the payback, nobody likes being on the business end of this dreadful ring.

Benefit: This hideous magic item calls forth all sorts of creatures (insects, spiders, mice, rats, etc) to one target within 30′ of the ring’s bearer. These creatures will attack and harass the target for two turns (twenty minutes), causing 1d4 hit points of damage very other round and slowing the subject down to a move of 3′ (1′). The target of this horrible attack may be changed at a cost of two rounds (30 seconds). Any giant vermin summoned raise the damage to 1d6+2 points of damage every other round. There is a 15% chance that wererats and other similar creatures with ties to vermin will be summoned and attack appropriately. Usable twice per day.

Usable by: Anyone.
